Get to Know Jonathan!

Hi, I’m Jonathan Edmond, a television play-by-play broadcaster and sports media professional currently serving as one of the lead play-by-play voices for the New York Liberty's 2026 television schedule on FOX 5 New York and My9.

Over the past seven years, I have built a diverse broadcasting portfolio spanning collegiate and professional sports, with a primary focus on basketball. In addition to my work with the Liberty, I am entering my third season as a broadcaster for the Long Island Nets of the NBA G League, where I have called regular season games, special events, and international matchups in Montreal. My experience also includes radio color commentary appearances on WFAN alongside longtime Brooklyn Nets radio voice Chris Carrino.

Beyond broadcasting, I currently serve as Senior Coordinator, Content Management for BKSE Global, supporting content operations for both the Brooklyn Nets and New York Liberty. Working within two premier professional sports organizations has provided me with invaluable experience in live event production, content strategy, storytelling, and the day-to-day operations of professional basketball franchises. In 2025, I was part of the Emmy Award-winning team recognized for the documentary "Dennis Schröder: From Braunschweig to Brooklyn," further highlighting my commitment to impactful sports storytelling both on and off the air.

My path began at Montclair State University, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Television & Digital Media with a concentration in Sports Media & Journalism. During my time there, I gained extensive on-air experience calling basketball, football, soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, and other collegiate sports. Following graduation, I spent three seasons as the play-by-play voice of Kean University's men's and women's basketball programs, further developing the preparation, storytelling, and game-calling skills that continue to define my broadcasting approach today.

Throughout every broadcast, my goal is to bring energy, preparation, accuracy, and authenticity to the viewer experience. Whether calling a nationally recognized professional matchup, a developmental league contest, or a collegiate rivalry, I strive to tell the stories behind the game while capturing the moments that matter most.
